Unblocked + DX - a new partnership for impact

Every engineering leader should have real and meaningful data that proves whether the tools they’ve purchased for their team - including Unblocked - actually work.

That’s why we’re embarking on a new partnership with DX, the developer intelligence platform designed by leading researchers to give true insight into the productivity of software development teams.

Companies trying to sell a product always make claims about the value they provide. I’m a skeptic, so I tend to approach these “data points” with a grain of salt. Marketing teams can err on the side of hyperbole, and when revenue is on the line, most sales people want you to believe that their product is *the piece* you’ve been missing.

At the same time, I hold the team at Unblocked to an incredibly high standard when it comes to actually solving our customer’s problems. I know from talking with hundreds of engineering leaders that increasing developer productivity is one of their highest priorities. Simply saying “Unblocked moves the needle on the day to day work of engineering” feels like marketing speak – I (and our customers)) want data that proves it.

That’s why we’re partnering with DX. Their platform combines data from development tools with self-reported data collected from developers, offering a comprehensive view of engineering productivity and its underlying factors. DX has not only developed proprietary measurement frameworks including the DX Core 4 and DXI, but their insights cater to leaders at every level of the organization, from CXOs to platform teams to frontline managers.

We met the team at DX several months ago and from the start, it felt like we spoke the same language. Through our partnership, joint customers will not only be able to measure how Unblocked is impacting key metrics, like time saved and velocity. They’ll also get access to DX’s broader measurement platform for help understanding their developers’ experiences across the board. Having used the platform myself, I can attest to the value of DX’s survey instruments and the wealth of data they provide.

Measurement matters. You can only understand what’s working and where to improve when you have data - and frankly, you can only tell which tools are making a difference when you have the ability to objectively assess them.
